Fjords

What a lump of water this one is! spits, finger Islands, dot islands, points, promatories bays and bars, its got the lot and I challenge anyone walking round it for the first time not to get lost. Everything a specimen angler could wish for! The lake is currently targeted by some good tench anglers which as Im sure you know are nowadays, more secretive than the carp anglers, so although I know of some tench being banked to 11+ I’m sure there’s been a few more and probably larger to! There are very large carp present, but due to the nature of this fishery they are very hard to track down! This lake is being targeted by us this year to be developed into the new specimen carp lake on the complex. We believe that by stocking the right fish, at the right density, over the next couple of years we can create something rather special. Work will begin this year on opening up a few swims, and making access easier. The Fjords is split into three separate areas. The Little fjords is at the southern end of the main lake, adjacent to Meadow Lane. This lake is separate from the Big Fjords, but is connected to Meadow Lake (The Sailing Lake). Most spring times, a gang of rather special carp move into this area from the sailing lake to spawn. I’ve witnessed up to 12 fish, probably 2 maybe 3 40’s and The Black Linear. And I know the angling world is full of myths and rumours (so it should be!), but... there is one fish, well... Lets just say, it's large!

The Big Fjords and Stake Pit (as named by Bill Chillingworth) are to the north between Long Reach and The Shallow Pit.
